JONNA BORGSTROM DOING OK AFTER SUFFERING TRIPLE BREAK

Wednesday, 20 December, SHARJAH (UAE): Jonna Borgstrom’s season came to a painful end suffering a triple break to her right arm after crashing heavily in yesterday’s second Moto.

The Swedish rider underwent surgery last night. “Jonna is better this morning, she’s doing well and doesn’t have so much pain,” said her Dad, Hakan. “She had surgery last night which went really well. I want to thank Essam from the local organiser and Pija Sumer from H2O they really helped us a lot.

“She will be fine but it was quite nasty. It was a triple break of her right arm and there were some concern about nerves being damaged but it is OK. They have fixed the breaks with 10 to 12 bolts and she will stay in hospital for a couple of days and then we can go home.”

The crash happened after the first turn with Borgstrom starting from P2 after a great opening Moto, when the 20-year-old from Henan lost control of her bike and fell heavily.

All the teams and riders wish her well and for a speedy recovery.
