VLADIVOSTOK GEARING-UP FOR ARRIVAL OF MODERN-DAY FLEET

 

Friday, 3 May: Primorsky Krai Powerboat Sport Federation and Aquabike Promotion, the organisers of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Rally Jet World Championship - Russky Offshore 2013, sponsored by Davos, have revealed details for this year’s event which will be held in Vladivostok, Russia in August.

 

From the 13 to 17 [August] this historic fortressed city port, renowned for its maritime heritage, will play host to a more modern-day fleet of ‘boats’ when the world’s leading international Aquabike riders descend on Russia’s south-eastern most city.

 

The riders in the sports Blue Riband category, Runabout GP1, will face a gruelling five stages in five days covering approximately 1000kms.

 

The 67km circuit which starts and finishes in Ayax Bay will see the riders completing three tours around Russky Island with two permitted pit-stops.

 

Russky Offshore 2013 is a team event with a maximum of three riders per team and running the same bike, with points allocated to riders finishing in the top 15 on a sliding scale from 25pts to 1pt.

 

This year marks the fifth running of the event, which was first held in 2009, is the first collaboration between Primorsky Krai Powerboat Sport Federation and Aquabike Promotion with the organisers anticipating a strong turn-out of up to 50 riders from UIM sanctioned National Authorities.
