AMERICA'S MACCLUGAGE TAKES ON EUROPE'S BEST

Wednesday 26, February: 2014 sees one of the Worlds’ most celebrated and successful riders single-handedly taking on 16 riders from Europe in a bid to take the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class-Pro Ski GP1 World title back across the pond to the USA.

Sixteen-to-one may be heavy odds but America’s multiple, World and National Champion, Chris MacClugage from Lake Havasu, Arizona joins the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class-Pro World Championship for the first time and is confident he can win the title. “I believe joining the tour is going to be a great experience for me. The ABP tour is the most organised and professional tour that I have seen and not experienced. It is in my opinion from what I have seen, the Moto GP of Jet Ski!” he said. I have competed against many of the riders that are on the tour. One of my friends and a great rider is Alberto Monti. We have had great battles over our many years of racing. So, I hope to continue this with him.

“I have beaten all the riders on the tour at one time or another, so I believe I can have a great chance at winning the Championship.”

The New Jersey born-Havasu resident runs Macc Racing, a performance personal watercraft business, whose motto is ‘faster than factory,’ and has an impressive track record; since his first competitive outing in Marco Island, Florida in 1987 MacClugage has enjoyed and an unprecedented run of success, winning 18 World and 15 US National Championships. He has won Thailand King’s Cup three times, the Japanese and European Indoor Championships twice and won the World famous Karujet in 2004.

If the stars and stripes are to fly successfully over the UIM-ABP tour, MacClugage first has to face and overcome the likes of defending World Champion Mickael Poret, 2013 European Champion Tiago Sousa and Italy’s multiple title holder Alberto Monti.
