MONTI LOOKING TO WIN ON HOME WATERS

Wednesday, 14 May: Italy’s Alberto Monti heads to Milan off the back of a win in the first round of the Italian Championship in Fano aiming to give the tens-of-thousands of spectators that are expected to turn out for the Grand Prix of Italy on 5-8 June the home victory they want.

One of the most experienced racers on the tour Monti has been a consistently strong performer over the last two years finishing third in the Ski GP1 title race and will be looking for his first win since Qatar 2013.

The 47-year-old former World and European Champion has divided his time since finishing in fourth overall and second in the Slalom in Qatar between preparing the family ‘Hotel Asiago’ in Ravenna for the summer season and getting out on the water on the weekends to train. “It is a very busy time for me, my wife Arianna and the family but I get out on the Ski as much as I can and was very pleased with the performance in Fano,” said Monti. “I am running a lot to keep in shape and at the beginning of June head to Sardinia for the second round of the Italian Championship, which will be a good build up to Milan and I think it is going to be a great show.”
