Thursday, 10 April: Qatar Grand Prix runner-up and heat 2 winner Teddy Pons heads up a clutch of UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro World Championship riders who will be amongst a possible 50 international competitors lining up in the 17th edition of the world famous Karujet which starts today in Viard, Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe.
The 31-year-old from Hyeres in France, who won the Karujet in 2011 and the UIM Runabout World and Slalom titles in 2009 will be joined by two of his countrymen, 2012 World Champion Francois Medori and Herve Partouche, and American multiple World Champion and 2004 Karujet winner Chris MacClugage.
The quartet will face an impressive and formidable field of riders including former Karujet winners’ Davy Vaitilingon from Guadeloupe who lifted the title in 2007 & 2012 and France’s Jean-Bruno Pastorello who won in 2010.
The first of four stages starts at 14.30hrs [local / 18.30hrs GMT] is a 60km stage with two tours from Viard on the Island of Basse Terre heading south to Saint Marie, then up to Ilet Gosier on Grand Terre and back to Viard.
