CURTINHAL REMAINS ON COURSE IN TITLE BID

Tuesday, 28 July: Portugal’s Beatriz Curtinhal remains on course in her bid to win the Ladies crown in the European Continental Championship after picking up her second title in three outings on the 2015 tour.

Twenty-one-year-old Curtinhal is enjoying a stellar Championship and leads the standings with 136 points from Swedish youngster Jonna Borgstrom on 112 and the defending European Champion Jennifer Menard on 89.

Curtinhal, who was born in Lisbon and now lives and Valencia, has topped the table from day 1; a double heat win and her first event title in Porec, Croatia was followed up with a titanic battle with Menard in Roses-Girona in Spain, the pair trading heat wins but the title going to Menard.

In Mirandela last weekend Curtinhal hit back; qualifying behind Virginie Morales and Menard she took the chequered flag in heat 1 from Morales and Borgstrom then secured the overall win with second place behind Borgstrom in heat 2, Menard salvaging valuable points finishing third after retiring in the first heat.

The final round of four takes place in Valras in France on 4-6 September.
