FIREWORKS SALUTE A FEAST OF GREAT RACING IN CASTRO

Tuesday, 26 May: Fireworks, on and off the water!, at last weekend’s Grand Prix of Italy in charming Castro has set the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship up for a storming run in in the two remaining Grand Prix of 2015  in Liuzhou, China and Sharjah in the UAE, in what has already been an electrifying season.

 

Snap recap of Castro; across all the categories there were eight different heat winners, three competitors nailing a first ever prestigious UIM-ABP Grand Prix title and eight different nationalities stepping onto the podium to celebrate.

 

In Runabout there was one winner, then a protest, a DQ, a revised set of results, so two heat winners, Khalifa Belselah and Jean-Baptiste Botti, the title going to Belselah. In Ski, Mickael Poret was back to his near best trading wins with Kevin Reiterer, the younger Reiterer nicking the title with his heat 2 win, and in the Ladies division Sweden’s Emma-Nellie Ortendahl, at 16, became the youngest to win a heat and title, trading wins with Estelle Poret, now a senior member of the tour at 19!!
