Monday, 14 December, SHARJAH (UAE): Jeremy Perez will have to produce his absolute best at the Grand Prix of Sharjah this weekend [19-20], the fourth and final round of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro World Championship, in his quest to pull off a memorable World and European title double.
The 29-year-old from from Lambesc, France, is sitting in second place in the championship standings with 79 points, 10 behind Thamer Al Darwish and 2 in front of countryman Jean-Baptiste Botti and simply has to win both races and hope Al Darwish is not immediately behind him!
If Perez is to add the Runabout GP1 world title that he so narrowly missed out on last year to Teddy Pons he will have to reproduce the kind of form that delivered him this year’s European Championship, going unbeaten in Croatia, Spain and Portugal to secure the title.
It will be a big ask for Perez who is yet to win on the world tour this year, his best a second place in race 2 and second overall in Qatar, and should he miss out by just a few points the missed buoy and post-race penalty last time out in China, dropping him from second to sixth and losing valuable points will come back to haunt him.
