Monday, 27 July: France’s Jeremy Perez successfully completed the defence of his European title with another impressive performance at round 3 of the UIM-ABP European Continental Championship in Mirandela in Portugal.
The 28-year-old from Lambesc dominated Runabout GP1 taking pole and both heat wins to wrap up the title ahead of the final round of the Championships which will be held in Valras in France on 4-6 September.
Perez is now unbeaten in six heat starts in his European Continental campaign and with 150 points and just 50 on offer from the last race is uncatchable, his nearest rival Didier Chabert on 89 points with Christophe Agostinho a further two points adrift.
The French ace, who currently tops the World Rankings and lies in fourth spot in the World Championship standings after two Grand Prix, was a class apart in Mirandela taking pole position by nearly four seconds from Chabert and leading him home in both 16 lap heats by over a minute, third place going to Agostinho.
In Runabout GP2 overall victory went to the winner of heat 2 Alessio Schintu following the disqualification [in heat 2] of heat 1 winner Jordi Thomas, with Yahya Rammah taking second ahead of Patrick Agostinho.
In the overall rankings Schintu tops the standings with 102 points, ahead of Rammah on 87 and Agostinho on 81.
