REITERER HEADS TO CASTRO FULL OF CONFIDENCE

Tuesday, 19 May: Austrian Kevin Reiterer heads down to Castro this week for the Grand Prix of Italy on a role and full of confidence after winning the opening round of the European Continental Championship last weekend in Porec, Croatia.

The Ski GP1 rider picked up a brace of heat wins and the scalps of World Championship points leader Nacho Armillas and Mickael Poret who sits in fourth in the points table five spots above him. He also finished on the podium in GP2 in third.

The 22-year-old made a solid start on his UIM-ABP tour debut, his first outing marred by a DNF in heat 2 after a fourth in the first heat and the loss of his bike in Doha Bay after he lent it to another rider.

Since March the talented Austrian has been busy, working in Australia and dropping down to New Zealand for a week’s training camp with a group of young riders.

In Castro Reiterer may well line up with a new bike-engine package and will resume what promises to be a fascinating battle with Armillas, as both face defending World Champion Jeremy Poret, an absentee in Porec!!

Round 2 of the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship kicks off in Castro on Friday [22 May] with first practice for all categories starting at 10:00hrs [local], with official qualifying starting at 15:30hrs.
