Thursday, 14 May: Mickael and Estelle will ‘fly the flag’ for the Poret family at the opening round of the UIM-ABP Aquabike European Continental Championship in Porec, Croatia this weekend [15/17], the start of a busy ten days for the family with Jeremy and Morgan joining up with them in ten days’ time for round two of the World Championships in Castro, Italy.
After a solid start to the season in Qatar, Mickael sits in fourth spot in the points table, Estelle in second in the Ladies division after her win in heat 2, and both will be using Porec as an extra opportunity to build up momentum ahead of round 2.
The Poret quartet has also been busy since the season-opener, competing in two rounds of the French Championship and putting in extra testing; in Sainte Maxime Race Spirit rider Jeremy took first place, with younger brother Morgan in third ahead of Mickael, Estelle taking third in the Ladies division.
In Solenzara in Corsica, with Jeremy opting out, Mickael led Morgan home taking second and fourth, with Estelle grabbing second spot. “I think Poret Racing will be in good shape in Porec and Castro,” said elder statesman Mickael. “We did a week’s extra testing Corsica to fix some of the problems we had with my bike in Qatar and have worked on the hull and I am very pleased with the speed we have, and in Castro Morgan will have a new bike. We go to Porec and Castro to win!”
