Thursday, 27 August: Another strong turnout is expected for the final round of the UIM-ABP European Continental Championship in Valras, France on 4-6 September with all but one title up for grabs.
With the Runabout GP1 title already in his locker, Jeremy Perez heads to Valras looking to complete his campaign with the perfect score and two more wins to go unbeaten over the four events. The fight behind him is tight, two points separating Didier Chabert and Christophe Agostinho with Jordi Thomas still in with a chance of finishing in the top three.
Nacho Armillas heads to Valras aiming to complete the Ski GP1-GP2 double. Standing in his way in the premiere class is points’ leader Mickael Poret. Nine points split the Spanish and French riders, Armillas winning both heats and the GP title in Spain, Poret hitting back and doing the same in Portugal. Should either of the front runners slip-up, Raphael Maurin is poised to take advantage. In Ski GP2 Armillas has taken overall honours at the last two events and leads from Maurin and Daniel Svae Andersen.
For Portugal’s Beatriz Curtinhal a win or a finish ahead of her closest rival Jonna Borgstrom in heat 1 will give the 21-year-old from Lisbon, now living in Altea in Spain, her first major international title, with the defending Champion Jennifer Menard down in third and needing a miracle if she is to retain it!
In Runabout GP2 Allessio Schintu holds the upper hand, Claude Vangasbeck is on top in GP3 with Gabor Szabo the points’ leader in Ski GP3 and Nycolas Olivin and Alec Enderli separated by one point in Ski Junior.
