Monday, 15 May: A spectacular weekend of racing is anticipated for the first act of the 2017 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship with over 100 riders from 26 countries set to descend on Porto Cesareo in Italy for the season opener on 2-4 June.
2017 marks the 23rd season for the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship, the sport’s most prestigious international jet ski series, with the riders competing in round 1 in the World Championship in Runabout and Ski GP1 and Freestyle sharing the water with competitors bidding to win a world title in Runabout GP2 & GP 4 and Ski GP2 & 3.
Riders from as far-a-field as Australia and New Zealand, the USA, China and the Middle East and right across Europe will face three days of intense competition; free practice and qualifying for all classes takes place on Friday, 2 June with Moto 1 for GP 1 and Freestyle and Moto 1 & 2 for GP2, 3 & 4 on the Saturday. The final Motos in all categories taking place on Sunday.
2017 looks set to be yet another season full of intense drama, complete dedication, thrills and spills, cut-throat competition, with the kind of sportsmanship and camaraderie that sets the UIM-ABP tour a part.
