PRE-QUALIFYING RUNABOUT GP1 – LAMPE TOPS TIME SHEETS
Friday, 2 June, PORTO CESAREO, (Italy): Carle Lampe made no mistake in securing his slot for this afternoon’s official qualifying in Runabout GP1, topping the time sheets in pre-qualifying.
The New Zealander nailed his best lap and the best time of the 15 minute session, 1:40.30, on his first flying lap.
Austria’s Marcus Schick went second quickest with 1:41.02, Hungary’s Gyorgy Kasza in third spot with 1:41.94.
Twenty-four riders were expected to be in the hunt for 13 spaces, with the final line-up of 25 to be confirmed one hour before qualifying.
On the cusp of going through is Lithuanian rider Gintaras Venckus, sitting in 13th spot with a best lap of 1:5125, one-tenth-of-a-second ahead of countryman Mindaugus Jaciauskas.
There was a big disappointment for Australian rider James Masterton who failed to get out on the water.
