RISING STAR BOSSCHE TOPS THE TIME SHEETS IN SKI GP1
Friday, 9 June, VIESTE (Italy): In just his second Grand Prix on the senior tour Belgium’s Quinten Bossche topped the time sheets in official qualifying and will start Moto1 of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Grand Prix of the Mediterranean from pole position, with France’s Mickael Poret second quickest ahead of Austria’s of Kevin Reiterer.
Bossche, 22, from Ostende is making a big impact in his UIM-ABP rookie season, adding to the Moto win and podium last time out with his first pole position today. “I felt pretty comfortable out there today. I tried to find my rhythm and pushed a little but I know my limits and didn’t want to mess things up,” said Bossche. “I hope the conditions are the same tomorrow. Today I got the best time now we see what tomorrow brings.”
Mickael Poret made it a Kawasaki one-two, ahead of Reiterer on the SDC and the pole-sitter from Porto Cesare, Raphael Maurin.
Defending champion Jeremy Poret has work to do in Moto1 starting from fifth spot, but crucially in the first group, with Morgan Poret in sixth.
There was a shock in the opening 15 minute session with Norwegian riders Stian Schjetlein and Daniel Svae Andersen both failing to make the cut, Schjetlein’s session ending under tow.
