FOUR LOCAL INDONESIAN RIDERS WILL TAKE PART IN NEXT WEEK’S "UNITED SPIRIT OF LAKE TOBA"

Saturday, November 18:  Four Indonesian riders will take part in next week’s UIM-ABP Endurance World Championship on Sumatra’s spectacular Lake Toba. They will compete in the Lake Toba Challenge alongside entrants from a further 18 nations and battle for the respective Karo, Dairi and Samosir Cups on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Local heroes Hilman Kurniawan, Kanina Ramadhina, Lucky Limanjaya and Makaio Wymlie will represent the host nation in the three endurances races that constitute this year’s UIM-ABP Endurance World Championship.

Kanina, 23, has been a regular on the national jetski scene for a number of years in both the Runabout and Endurance categories. Her achievements include podium finishes at Jakarta Sports Week 2022, the 2019 Seribu Islands Watersport Competition and at the 2015 Boalemo Jetski Festival.

Lucky is more than just a competitor in the world of jetski racing. Away from water sports, he also competes in running, cycling and triathlon events. Last year, he finished as runner-up in the JSAP National Hydrocross Tour of the Philippines.

Although he is only 18 years old, young Makaio has already gained a useful reputation for his successes on the water. After taking part in the 2019 Jetski World Cup in Thailand, he managed to win the Runabout class at Jakarta Sports Week 2022 and swept on to the podium at the JSAP National Jetski Championship this year.

Wednesday’s Karo Cup will be contested over a pair of 35-minute races, starting at 11.30hrs and 14.00hrs, on a three-kilometre circuit near the village of Tongging on  Lake Toba. The vast volcanic lake forms part of the Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark and is one of five UNESCO global geoparks in Indonesia
