Friday, November 3:  Jean Bruno Pastorello, one of the most famous names in the history of aquabike endurance racing, will take part in the UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance World Championship on Indonesia’s spectacular Lake Toba on November 22nd-24th.

The Frenchman has often been compared to 10-time UIM F1H2O World Champion Guido Cappellini in terms of his successes on the water and the 51-year-old will be racing on Lake Toba - in the Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark and one of five UNESCO global geoparks in Indonesia – for the first time.

Born in Toulouse, Jean Bruno picked up the nickname ‘Hulk’ during a career where he has earned 12 World Championship gold medals and two silvers, two European Championships and four French titles. From an early age, the talented youngster showed a penchant for both rugby and alpine skiing, although the world of jetski racing took his fancy as early as 1989 and he began racing in active competition six years later.

His career curriculum vitae of successes is extensive and stretches from the International Jet Ski World Cup (IJSBA), to Jet Raids, Karujet, Super Cross, Rally Jet, Jet Raid and UIM-ABP racing disciplines. In recent seasons he has earned four WGP#1 World Cup championships (2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022), in addition to adding a third WGP#1 World Series to his list last year.

In late 2022, Pastorello competed in the Pro-Am Endurance Open and Water Jet Championships in Pattaya City and created history for himself by snatching triple championships in all three rounds on three continents, including earlier races in Poland and the USA and the WGP#1 World Cup in Thailand. Sealing the Triple Crown Trophy earned the Frenchman the prestigious title of ‘King of Three Continents”.

In terms of recent success in the UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance World Championship, Pastorello was triumphant in 2016. Solenzara in Corsica hosted the counting round for the title and 35 racers lined up in the Runabout GP1, 2 and 3 categories for three heats over a five-kilometre course. Pastorello and Porto Vecchio-based Jean-Baptiste Botti won the final heat to secure GP1 success from French rivals François Medori and Alex Barret.

Now the Frenchman is making his personal preparations for the Karo, Dairi and Samosir Cups, which make up the three days of competition for the 2023 UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance World Championship on Sumatra’s Lake Toba.
