NEW DATE FOR HUNGARIAN OPENER TO UIM-ABP EUROPEAN CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Thursday, April 27: The UIM-ABP Aquabike European Continental Championship will start two weeks later than originally planned with the news that the Grand Prix of Hungary at Levelek will now take place over the weekend of June 23rd-25th.
The season then continues, as planned, two weeks later with the Grand Prix of Lithuania, based at the town of Kupiskis, on July 8th-9th. This means that the series will be fought out over six Motos and two Grand Prix in a compact programme of events during the warmth of the summer months and favourable weather conditions in Eastern Europe.
Hungary has a strong tradition in aquabike racing and will host a unique round of the Junior World Championship. Last year’s race meeting took place in September and saw local star Gyorgy Kasza claim the laurels after three Motos in Runabout GP1.
Belgium’s Anthony Beernaut topped the standings in Ski Division GP1, Estonian Jasmiin Ypraus was the leading Ski Ladies racer and Sweden’s Linus Lindberg won Runabout GP2. Young Estonian Arti Molder shone through in the Runabout Juniors GP4 category.
Meanwhile, the 2023 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship gets underway in Olbia, Sardinia, on June 17th-18th.
