AQUABIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS FOR JASMIIN YPRAUS AND QUINTEN BOSSCHE
Chavanne and Reiterer claim Grand Prix of Lake Toba, Indonesia wins

Sunday, November 17: Estonia’s Jasmiin Ypraus and Belgian Quinten Bossche confirmed UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship titles in the Ski Ladies GP1 and Ski Division GP1 categories at the Grand Prix of Lake Toba, Indonesia on Sunday afternoon.

Victories in the third Motos went to Jessica Chavanne and Kevin Reiterer and that meant that the duo secured victories in the Grand Prix of Lake Toba, Indonesia.

Reiterer led from the start of the final Moto to secure his Grand Prix win but Bossche was content to shadow Jérémy Poret before passing him near the finish to win his first World Championship in style. Six successive Moto wins in Vietnam and Sardinia formed the basis of his title challenge and, despite concerns about the performance of his ski in Indonesia over the weekend, he managed to see out the remaining Motos to take the title. Tallinn-based Ypraus, 23, had won her first world title in 2022.

Ypraus seals Ski Ladies GP1 world title: Moto 3 and GP win for Chavanne

Jasmiin Ypraus started on pole ahead of Jessica Chavanne for one of the most important Motos of her young career. She led the defending World Champion by 12 points with Benedicte Drange a clear favourite to finish the season in third.

Murky and wet conditions greeted the 10 girls from seven nations to the start of their final Moto of the season. Chavanne made the best start in poor visibility to take the hole shot and the French girl moved ahead of Ypraus, Drange and Emma-Nellie Ortendahl. Chavanne led by 3.412 seconds into lap three and maintained a stable cushion over the next couple of laps. Naomi Benini slipped to the rear of the field.

Chavanne held on to take the chequered flag to seal victory in the Grand Prix by 22.380 seconds but Ypraus came home in second, despite a scare with a minor fall near the finish, to confirm the World Championship title. Third place for Drange also gave the Norwegian the final step on both podiums. Ortendahl, Sofie Borgström, Janina Johansson, Virginie Morlaes, Joana Graca, Lisa Caussin Battaglia and Benini rounded off the 10 finishers.

Ski Division GP1 world title for Bossche; Moto 3 and GP success for Reiterer

Kevin Reiterer’s morning Moto2 win had moved the Austrian to within 17 points of Quinten Bossche and lifted him 14 clear of Morgan Poret in the World Championship battle. Could Bossche hold his nerve and seal a maiden world championship?

Twenty-one of the 22 entrants made the start of the 17-minute Moto and Reiterer opted for the inside split and stayed ahead of Jérémy Poret to take the hole shot with Bossche in third and Valentin Dardillat and Morgan Poret. Daniel Svae Andersen didn’t start for personal reasons and joined Dawn Dawson on the commentary barge instead.

Reiterer began to edge clear of Poret and Bossche but the Belgian knew that a finish inside the top 12 would give him a maiden world title. The Austrian held on to take the win by 10.815 seconds and Bossche came home in second on the final lap to win his first world title and seal Grand Prix success. Jérémy Poret’s third spot confirmed second for the Frenchman in the Grand Prix ahead of Bossche.

Dardillat and Morgan Poret rounded off the top five with that result giving Morgan the final place on the World Championship podium. Alex Barret finished sixth and Alex Courtois, Mickael Poret, Oliver Koch Hansen and Alec Enderli rounded off the top 10. Belgian Maxence Russel was awarded a 20-second penalty for not maintaining his lane at the start and finished 16th.
