Tuesday, January 23: The French duo of Jeremy Perez and Mikael Poret have been elected to represent the views of riders and teams in the 2024 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.
With growing interest in both the World and European Continental Championship in 2024 and an expanded calendar of events, with new World Championship races in Vietnam and Albania joining existing Grand Prix in Italy and Indonesia, it was fitting that the viewpoint of teams and individuals should be heard and feedback should be discussed to provide the best racing environment and conditions possible.
Aquabike Promotion has pushed this positive forward step to ensure race venues meet the requests of riders. For example, the representatives will reach GP venues a few days early to collaborate with Aquabike officials on the design and layout of the circuit.
From a racing side, Poret clinched the 2023 UIM Ski Division GP1 World Championship title by winning the third Moto at the Grand Prix of Lake Toba-Indonesia. The 36-year-old, from Niévroz, works in the family manufacturing business and has been competing at the top level of the UIM-ABP World Championship for over a decade.
Perez, 37, lives in Marignane in France and runs a jet ski rental business. He finished second overall in the 2023 UIM Runabout GP1 World Championship to François Medori but was World Champion in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
