FULL SCHEDULE FOR REGIONE SARDEGNA GRAND PRIX OF ITALY IN OLBIA ANNOUNCED

Tuesday 29 July: The full schedule for this year’s Pro Circuit World Championship Grand Prix in Obia, Italy has been published.

Aquabike Promotion will be working in collaboration with ASD Aquabike Olbia to host the Regione Sardegna Grand Prix of Italy this October.

Olbia, the much loved racing location in the scenic north of Sardinia that has been a fixture in the Aquabike calendar for decades, will see riders arrive from Wednesday the 15th of October, when the paddock officially opens.

Rider registration opens the following day, Thursday 16, with engine testing throughout the day, before registration closes at 6pm local time.

As is tradition Olbia will be the only World Championship destination in which races will be held across all Aquabike categories, guaranteeing an action packed following few days of racing.

Following the opening rider’s briefing at 8am, racing action will commence on Friday 17, with qualifying races for pole position taking place for Ski GP3, Ski GP4, Runabout GP4, Runabout GP4 Ladies, Ski GP2 and Runabout GP2 between 10am and 1pm. Following a lunch break, qualifying continues between 2.30pm and 4.45pm for the Ski Ladies GP1, Ski GP1 and Runabout GP1 categories.

This is immediately followed by the first Moto 1 races of the Grand Prix, taking place in the Ski GP3, Ski GP4 and Runabout GP4 categories. Friday’s racing will end with qualifying for Freestyle, taking place from 6.15pm.

Saturday will be another packed day of racing, as Moto 1 races take place for the remaining categories from 9.30am, with Moto 2 races taking place from 1.30pm. The day’s racing will close with the Runabout GP1 and Freestyle Moto 1 races (both categories will be composed of two Motos, whilst all other categories will have three), held just before Olbia’s 6.37pm sunset.

The final day of racing takes place on Sunday 19, with Moto 3 races getting underway from 10.30am, preceded by an hour of free practice.

Following the completion of all the Moto 3 races, the final two races will be the Runabout GP1 and Freestyle Moto 2, taking place shortly  before this year’s racing in Olbia comes to a close at 6pm.

The Grand Prix’s victors will be crowned under a Sardinian sunset from 6pm during Olbia’s prize giving ceremony, marking the end of the year’s busiest World Championship Aquabike Grand Prix.
