MOTO 2 WINS FOR MEDORI AND VAZNYS IN ENDURANCE GP1 AND GP2 IN FRANCE

Friday, September 5: François Medori made it two wins out of two in Endurance GP1 and Lithuanian Domantas Vasnys topped the standings in Endurance GP2 in the 2025 UIM-ABP European Endurance Championship’s second Moto at the Grand Prix of Vichy, France on the Allier River on Friday.

Medori finished the 24-lap heat 35.46 seconds ahead of Spaniard Ruben Jimenez Riquelme and now has 50 championship points and a lead of six over his closest rival heading into the remaining three Motos over the weekend. The situation is fascinating in Endurance GP2 with Moto 1 winner Giraldo Matthias leading Moto 2 category winner Vaznys by six points and several other riders also in close contention.

Medori said: “The race was very hard, same conditions like yesterday. I managed to have a big gap with Jimenez and, for the last 10 minutes, I was able to manage my ski and myself to finish the race. There are three more Moto and we can always have some problems or a crash so we need to finish these Motos.”

Medori completely dominated the Moto once again with all 16 riders taking to the water on this occasion. Italy’s Michele Cadei finished third for the second time and is a further six points behind Medori in the bronze medal position. In GP1, Emanuele Masala was three laps off the pace in fourth with Pierre-Alexandre Peloux and Gouveia Dos Santos Anderson rounding off the top six. The latter was later docked five championship points for missing a turn buoy.

Pierre-Marie Matelli had missed Moto 1, was also docked five points for a turn buoy violation in Moto 2 and finished seventh of the eight Endurance GP1 runners.

Vaznys beat all but two of the GP2 entrants and finished well clear of Matthias and Moto 1 pace-setter Steve Sarnin. Croatian Luca Vecchiori and Jean-Baptiste Baldassari rounded off the top five. Juri Tiozzo of Italy lost five points because of a turn buoy violation.
