RIDERS SET TO BATTLE IT OUT TO BECOME WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPION ON LAKE TOBA

Tuesday, August 12: After hours of logistical planning, the UIM-ABP Class Pro Endurance World Championship returns to Balige on spectacular Lake Toba in Sumatra this week.

InJourney, ITDC, MGPA with the authorisation of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) and Aquabike Promotion, will host the stand-alone World Championship on the world’s largest volcanic lake. Twenty two riders are now making their final preparations for 6 Motos that will decide who follows in the footsteps of 2023 winner Jean Bruno Pastorello and defending champion François Medori as the two names to have triumphed in world endurance racing in Indonesia.

The door is open for the world to crown a new endurance champion!

György Kasza impressed with his speed and stamina at the recent European Championship round in his native Hungary and Portugal’s Lino Araùjo featured strongly last season to finish fifth in the World Championship. American veteran Anthony Radetic was Medori’s closest challenger in 2024 and he also returns to try and go one better this season.

The truly international field features entrants from nine countries with Jay Finlinson also representing the United States alongside Radetic. In addition to Araùjo, the Iberian Peninsula is also represented by Adrian Herias Fernandez and Anderson Dos Santos Gouveia.

Scott Phillips and Bayley Cunningham make the trip from Australia and are joined by New Zealander Kylie Ellmers, the only female rider in the endurance field.

Competing against them will be a healthy showing of ten Indonesian riders, who will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage.

Japan’s talented Isahai Hajime, Slovak Mario Lamy and Dane Ramus Koch Hansen round off the entry for the first of the Motos.

The first of the six Motos will get underway tomorrow (Wednsday 13) morning, followed by Moto 2 in the afternoon.
