GYORGY KASZA, VALENTIN DARDILLAT, AND BENEDICTE DRANGE ON TOP IN SHANGHAI FREE PRACTICE

Friday, October 2: Gyorgy Kasza came out of Runabout GP1 Free Practice with the fastest lap of 01:41.917 seconds, as the Hungarian put in a convincing performance over his eight laps. Behind him was current European Champion Jeremy Perez, who with a fastest lap of 01:44.948 seconds, finished over three seconds behind Kasza. Behind them came Ruben Jimenez, Lino Araujo, and Robin Laforge. Francois Medori, the reigning World Champion, put in an uncharacteristically tame performance over his four Free Practice laps, achieving a best time of 01:58.965 seconds that placed him ninth in the rankings.

After an astounding campaign that saw him win all his Motos by a comfortable margin, current European Champion Quinten Bossche eased himself into this year’s World Championship during Ski GP1 Free Practice, not reaching his usual pace and settling for the third best time of the session. Bossche secured a best time of 01:50.503 seconds across his four laps, behind multiple-time World Champion Jeremy Poret, who came second with a best time of 01:50.349 seconds, and Frenchman Valentin Dardillat, who had a strong European campaign in which he finished second and managed to go one further in today’s Free Practice, coming first with a time of 01:49.811 seconds.

Benedicte Drange was a close challenger for last year’s Ski Ladies GP1 World Championship, and now enters the 2026 season buoyed by a fastest lap in the Free Practice after achieving a time of 01:51.775 seconds. Behind her by 1.978 seconds was former World Champion Jessica Chavanne, with Emy Garcia achieving the third best pace. Current World Champion Estelle Poret made do with a fourth place finish, with a best time of 01:54.692 seconds.
